WILL THIRD WAVE EFFECT KIDS? –
CAN WE LEAD A NORMAL LIFE AGAIN?
Though the second wave Covid-19 cases are declining in India, fears of third-wave impact on children are much higher with the different kinds of reports from various experts. Moreover, the debates on TV channels are also threatening the people about the third wave with inconclusive messages. A preliminary study jointly conducted by WHO and AIIMs clarifies that though a third wave hit the country, children may not be affected as we fear, and no need to worry too much about the threat to children. WHO and AIIMS conducted a study on 10000 in five states giving a small relief regarding the effect of 3rd wave Covid on children.
In the latest deliberation of AIIMS Director, Dr. Randeep Gularia clarified that the third wave of Covid-19 in India is inevitable and it could hit the country in the next 6 to 8 weeks. As we have started unlocking, there is again a lack of “Covid 19-appropriate behavior.” He further said we don’t seem to have learned from what happened between the first and second waves. Though the Covid-19 cases are lessened, we do not neglect the precautions such as wearing masks, maintaining physical distance, washing hands, sanitizing the premises regularly, Dr. Gularia warned.
