Sidhu would be Punjab PCC Chief?
Congress high command is preparing for the coming assembly elections next year by resolving the differences between the leaders in the election bound states. Punjab is one among them with a lot of tussle between the Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and former cricketer MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu and high command even tried to set right distance between them. Congress wants to take advantage of the anti-wave situation in NDA with recent developments and jumped into action to compromise these leaders.
People of Punjab are angry with the NDA policies especially the three newly formed farm bills. It is to be noted that the farmers' agitation started from Punjab and is playing a key role in the agitation. It would be difficult for BJP/NDA to come into power in the present circumstances and agitations. At present, if Congress will strive hard it would not be difficult to retain its power in the state.
To reach its goal, unity is important between CM and Sidhu groups to fight against the BJP in the coming elections. It is learnt that the high command took a serious note of it and explained the necessity of uniting the two groups and stressed for a friendly atmosphere signaling that there should be no groupism in congress. To this extent, high command took a strong class to Amarinder and Sidhu. As a part of compromising strategy, the high command convinced CM Amarinder to offer PCC chief post to Sidhu for which he is also happy as his dream comes into reality. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Wadra played a key role in this compromising process. An official statement appointing Sidhu as PCC Chief of Punjab is expected within two or three days.
