More than 70 vaccination centres in Mumbai have shut down due to the shortage of doses. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Mumbai has 120 vaccination centres, out of which 71 centres have run out of vaccines. A Jumbo vaccination centre at the BKC, Mumbai’s most important commercial zone, is also shut down, and a lot of protestors were at the centre. The Dean of the Centre, Rajesh Dere, said “From Day 1 we used to get vaccines a day ahead as buffer stock, till yesterday we got a sufficient number of vials for this centre. Last night we were expecting to get today’s dose, but it has not come. Now we have only 160 doses”. The State Health Minister alleged the BJP ruling by saying that Maharashtra was receiving fewer doses considering its population when compared to other states.
