Legendary Actor Dilip Kumar passes away

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar (98) passed away today morning (Wednesday July 7)) while undergoing treatment in Hinduja Hospital. His family friend Faisal Farooqui confirmed the news of his death on Dilip’s official twitter account. “With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him return’ Faisal posted in the twitter. Dilip was admitted in Hospital with age-related medical issues and after a few days he was discharged. After complaining a respiratory problem, he again admitted in the hospital. His wife erstwhile popular Heroine Saira Bhanu told on twitter a few days ago that Dilip’s health was stable and wanted to take him to home after Doctors’ permission. She was at his side in last minutes of Dilip.  Dilip’s last rites will be held at 5 p.m. today his remains will be buried at the Juhu Cemetery, according to family sources.

DilipDilip Kumar popularly known as ‘tragedy King’ in Bollywood and his career spanned nearly six decades successfully. He acted in more than 65 films. He acted many classic hits like ‘Devadas (1955), ‘Naya Daur (1957), Mughal-e-Azam'(1960), ‘Ganga Jamuna'(1961), ‘Kranthi’ (1981) and ‘Karma'(1986). He appeared last in the film ‘Qila’ in 1998. He accepted that he cannot portrait the portion of ‘Devadas’ in the film ‘Devadas’ as well as Akkineni Nageswara Rao done for the Telugu film. That is the greatness of this legendary thespian.

Dilip Kumar is his filmy name. His original name is Mohammed Yusuf Khan. he was born in 1922 in Peshawar which is now in Pakistan. His life journey is a great history began from working in story and scripting division in Bombay talkies to Stardom in Bollywood.

The thespian was honoured by the Indian Government with the ‘Dadasaheb Phalke award’ in 1994 and the ‘Padma Vibhushan’ in 2015 for his contribution to Indian Cinema. The Pakistan Government also honoured him with its highest civilian honour ‘Nishan-e-Imtiaz’ in 1997.
