Reliance Industries’ latest e-commerce platform Jio Mart launched its operations on pilot basis in and around Mumbai. Reliance Retail affiliated Jio Mart has set a target of creating largest e-commerce system by connecting as many as thirty million grocery stores in India.
It has started the operations in Navi Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan. One has to make an order by saving WhatsApp number given by Jio Mart . He/She will get a link to give an order by sending hi message to the the number. By clicking the link the customer has to submit his personal details such as mobile number and address apart from filling an order form. The order should be submitted on or before 5 pm every day.
The customer will get the goods mentioned in the order form from nearby grocery store within 48 hours from the time the order has placed. But due to COVID, the customer has to go to the said grocery store personally and receive the goods on his own.
It all happened with Facebook recently bought a 9.99 percent stake in Reliance Jio forUSD 5.7 billion(about Rs 43,574 crore). Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries and the master mind behind Reliance Jio, saw the opportunity to digitally transform the grocery store business to a multi-billion dollar moment by involving one of the digital giants, Facebook.
As the word ‘physical distance’ has been gaining weight in the COVID-19 controlled situation, the same has been utilised in the world of digital commerce.
