Christmas Special – Christmas Creeps
– Adhiyan Bharathiraja
Last time, I wrote a little about Allhalloween, or if you haven't read it yet, you would probably know it as Halloween. Christmas is celebrated for the birth of Jesus Christ, a religious leader.
Santa is also a famous symbol for Christmas, but you already know him. This surprisingly old man gives out coal to the naughty kids, but what if someone needs something even worse? Then, good ol’ Saint Nicholas (as some call him) is gotta bring in the big guns!
The most well-known demonic sidekicks of our jolly Santa are the Krampus. They come from the German word krampen, meaning ‘claws’ and if I had to pick a name, this would be the appropriate one.
Their origins are very blurry, but we think they are European monsters. These guys probably live deep in the Alps mountain range. Every Christmas, when they're hungry for supper, they stomp on down and look for some naughty children soup!
If you thought you were safe from the Krampus for some twisted reason, well, think again! There are probably more than 100 Krampus, and these are not the only Christmas Creeps you might encounter if you are naughty. But remember to look out for any creepy figures during this December, and if you think you might get something more than coal…well, I don’t know, lock yourself up in a closet? (disclaimer: don’t do that!)
