BJP is in 'Vamana incarnation'..
Congress lost grip
While the Congress party tries to regain its strength in various parts of the Country on the other hand its opponent BJP gradually swallows it in every state. BJP has been trying to enter into South and North India for a long time. When it is far harder to knock the door in the south except Karnataka BJP is now eyeing on Northeast states. As part of its plan in Manipur, BJP achieved its maximum to finish Congress.
With this the Congress chances of doing better in the 2022 elections now appear bleak. Political pundits feel the BJP is suppressing congress like the incarnation of 'Vamana' who threw the emperor Bali to the underworld.
In a latest shocky development in Manipur almost Congress party degraded to dismal level and left as an orphan when its state President Govindas Konthoujam resigned to his post and joined BJP. Along with him eight MLAs also have joined Bharatiya Janata Party in Manipur which is going for elections next year.
Interestingly Mr.Govindas Konthoujam was appointed as PCC chief of Manipur last December. He is a popular leader and has been a six-time MLA from Bishnupur.
The BJP-led alliance has a total of 36 MLAs in 60 seats in the Manipur assembly. The BJP has 25 members, while the Congress has 17. NPP and the NPF have four seats. The Trinamool Congress has one MLA and there are three independents. Three seats are lying vacant in the assembly.
Interestingly, in the 2017 elections the Congress had won 28 seats and the BJP had 21 seats. The BJP had formed the government with the help of the allies and began slowly swallowing up the Congress. Now only 17 Congress MLAs remain.
