At least 40 killed in Philippines plane crash and 40 rescued
At least 17 bodies have been found after a military plane carrying 85 soldiers crashed on the Southern Island of Jolo in the Philippines on Sunday. Unofficial sources said that nearly 45 people killed in this crash. The crash occured near Bangkal village in the town of Patikul a stronghold of the Muslim militant group known as Abu Sayyaf. Reports stating that the toll would climb. The head of the Phillippine armed forces, General Cirilto Sobejana said the plane missed a runway while trying to land. At least 40 people have been rescued so far. The plane was carrying 5 military vehicles also. The crash happened while shifting the soldiers, reports said.
